Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt and
BlueCross Medicare Advantage
Vanderbilt Health and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee have reached a mutual decision not to renew the contract for BlueAdvantage (PPO) after Dec. 31, 2024. This means that, as of Jan. 1, 2025, Vanderbilt Health facilities and providers have been removed from our BlueAdvantage (PPO) network. We know many of our Medicare Advantage members value having their Vanderbilt providers in network. We also know the doctor-patient relationship is important to you. If you want to keep seeing your Vanderbilt doctor, then you may want to work with an insurance broker to find a Medicare Advantage plan that has Vanderbilt in their network. If you prefer to not change plans, our network has many other providers to choose from.
Here's what you need to know:
- Our current Medicare Advantage PPO contract with Vanderbilt Health expired after Dec. 31, 2024.
- Our Medicare Advantage members covered by a BlueAdvantage (PPO) plan will still be able to receive transplant care from Vanderbilt facilities and providers. But all other forms of care are now considered out-of-network, effective Jan. 1, 2025.
- If our Medicare Advantage members covered by a BlueAdvantage (PPO) plan have a true emergency, they should go to the closest emergency room, including those at Vanderbilt Health facilities, even after Dec. 31, 2024. Check out our FAQ page for additional information.
- We’ll work to help you find care from our other in-network providers. Medicare Advantage members who stayed with BlueAdvantage have many other in-network providers to choose from.
